Ingredients 101: What Is Tea Tree Oil?

Melaleuca Alternifolia, also known popularly as tea tree oil, has been used for thousands of years as a natural remedy. It’s a must-have multi-purpose therapeutic essential oil—in fact, it’s one of the few oils (along with lavender and chamomile) that can be used directly on the skin. California Baby Pure Tea Tree Oil is ultra-pure and tested to be pesticide free.

California Baby founder Jessica Iclisoy began using essential oils with her own children when they turned 6 months old. “To get the biggest benefit, it is important to work with essential oil that contain high levels of plant actives and are synthetic additive and pesticide free,” she says. “That’s where California Baby comes in: All California Baby blends and single notes are tested by a third party for purity and we only use oils that are known for their safety and efficacy. Always remember that essential oils are powerful concentrates and more is NOT better, in fact, less is more. So please use sparingly.”

Bad breath. Early research shows that adding tea tree oil to an essential oil mixture containing peppermint and lemon oils can reduce bad breath.
